Parties!

We are planning parties at our house.

A birthday party for Gabrielle, who turns 13 tomorrow.

And a going-away/graduation party for Chelsea.

Gabi's birthday party was an all-out affair last year for her twelfth birthday, so this year the preparations are not so complicated. Still, there are presents to shop for and wrap, activities to plan, and cake to bake and decorate. It is all so much fun! Who doesn't love a party?!? I always let the kids choose their menu for the day. Tomorrow we will have Coffee Cake and bacon for breakfast, spaghetti for lunch, and Pasta e Fagioli soup for dinner. What a good kid, she is fairly easy to please!

Chelsea's party will require a bit more planning. We are working on a menu, but still haven't finalized it. There are things like the invitations and the decorations to think about. Then there are the projects around the house that I would love to see finished. So many things to do, so little time!

I think the biggest catch in planning for me is being organized. I am not very organized, so I tend to get overwhelmed with all the details and etc.

However, if I keep my mind on the goal, in this case, honoring both of my girls and celebrating them, then I think the truly important tasks will naturally shift to the top of the list in front of the urgent tasks.

So the next couple of weeks are going to be fun filled at the Mills house!

p.s. I have continued cooking from PW's cookbook. Thank you to those of you who encouraged me!! I am moving forward!
